Can I use other libraries?

Answer

SRUC is a member of Sconul access which means that you may be able to use other university or college libraries as long as they are also members of the scheme. It is available to selected categories of student and staff so please check the list provided at the website so you're not disappointed.

You will have to apply for access at the Sconul Access site - one of the conditions is that you have to be in what's called 'good standing' with SRUC Libraries. In other words, that you have no debt for books you haven't returned, and you don't return books late as a habit. The Libraries you apply to access will be clear about how many books you may borrow, and if they allow access to study spaces, so please be sure you check their conditions before you plan to visit.

Some courses have reciprocal arrangements with other institutions about library use - please check with your teaching staff if you think you may have these privileges, or with your local campus library staff.

You may also wish to use your local public library so check their websites to see what they need to process membership for you. You may also join the National Library of Scotland who have a wide range of physical and electronic resources (although you will need a Scottish address to apply for access to electronic resources). This will give you some more information.
